The Mineral Wells Community Garden will help improve local food security and increase self-reliance through teaching people to grow their own food. Our neighbors in need will enjoy nutritious, fresher food.
The garden will foster community identity and spirit, while saving money, and make beneficial use of otherwise vacant space.
Ultimately, we believe the Community Garden will re-connect people with nature and each other to develop cultural spaces.
Additional benefits include teaching/learning opportunities for local school classes and volunteer/project opportunities for the community.
The Community Garden Gaurdians are a group of non-profit organizations and individuals that recognized a need within the community. Currently, the partnership consists of volunteers from First United Methodist Church, First Christian Church, Meals on Wheels of Palo Pinto County, and Clark Gardens.
Each of our organizations recognized the need for establishment of a community garden. But each of us lacked something in the logistical staging process- whether it be space for a garden, human resources, monetary resources or just knowledge about how to get it started.
